HomeschoolI am a homeschooling mom. It was not something I really went looking for though. It was a decision made with God's heart for our children in mind. Our eleven-year-old did not have the best kindergarten experience and we felt that something different needed to be done. So we chose to put her in a private school. We found that the academics at this private school were of the highest standard, but Bailee was definitely behind. By her 2nd grade year, she was behind enough in her reading ability, they felt she needed to be held back. The decision to homeschool Bailee was done with a lot of prayer. During her 2nd grade year, we had our second child. I was now home, but was I in a position to have a baby and homeschool? We felt that the Lord was leading us to this decision and that it was the right one for our family. My mom was homeschooling my younger siblings and had been doing it for many years. This helped our transition. She knew of curriculum and she had a lot of experience of what worked and what did not. Homeschooling has definitely been one of the greatest challenges I have ever encountered. To mold our daily lives around Bailee doing homeschool has been a challenge. To keep her motivated, while keep the younger two from disturbing her, has also been a great challenge. It has definitely been worth it. My daughter is one of the sweetest, giving girls I know. We still struggle with the academic area, but we are persevering through. God knows Bailee, her needs, her strengths, and her weaknesses. He knew Bailee before she was born. He was the one to form her in my womb. I know he has a destiny and plan for her life and he will see it come to pass. One of my favorite sites for worksheets and school activities especially for third graders and below is School Express. I encourage you to check it out.
